Drama in the preschool classroom engages the imagination, makes learning purposeful and promotes critical thinking, so that students can formulate and express their own opinions.
A child in acting out roles is learning com-
passion and tolerance for others’ feelings
and viewpoints. We aid this process by
keeping props for dress up and dramatic
play readily available and rotated to keep
the imaginative juices flowing.
Teachers will use drama to enrich a story
or concept. Simple plays are put together
during group time in which the children can
create their own costumes, props, or use
puppets to make a story come alive.
Children have the opportunity to explore
different characters alternative endings and a variety of scenarios.
